TOEFLのリスニングは学術的な英語です。授業やキャンパスライフの短いクリップが一度だけ流れ、聞きながらメモを取ることができます。2026年1月からは1〜6のバンドで採点され、多くの大学が求めるスコアはバンド4〜5あたりです。

実際に必要なバンドスコア

どれくらいのバンドが必要かはプログラム次第で、大学ごとに基準が異なります。TOEFLは2026年に1〜6のバンド制になりましたが、2年間は0〜120の旧スコアも成績表に一緒に記載されるので、両方の点数がわかります。多くのアカデミックプログラムはバンド4〜5あたりが目安です。以下は実際の例と、その出典です:

TOEFLリスニングテストはどんな内容ですか?

リスニングセクションは2026年1月21日に刷新されました。現在は約47問の短い設問があり、所要時間は約29分です。以前のテストにあった長い講義ではなく、短く要点を絞ったクリップが使われます。リスニングのタスクは4種類あり、ここではETSの呼び方に沿って紹介します。

レベルと単語数

どのレベルで、単語はどれくらい必要?

リスニングに必要な語彙はリーディングよりずっと少なくて済みます。研究によると、よく使われる約3,000語で通常の会話の約95%をカバーでき、最初の1,000語だけで人が話す内容の大部分をカバーできます。

TOEFLでは、科学や歴史の話に出てくるような学術的な単語やテーマ特有の単語にも出会います。とはいえ、膨大な語彙は必要ありません。必要なのは、よく使われる単語、ひとまとまりの学術単語、そして自分のレベルに合ったリスニング練習をたくさんこなすことです。映像は、映っているものや話し手の様子が意味のヒントになるので役立ちます。

このTOEFLパックはどうやって選ばれていますか?

TOEFLのリスニング対策には、どんな動画で練習すればいいですか?

TOEFLのリスニング音声は1回だけ流れるのですか、それとも2回ですか?

TOEFLは何点必要ですか?

プログラムによって異なり、大学ごとに基準を設けています。多くの学術プログラムはバンド4〜5くらいで、旧スコアでは80〜100点ほどにあたります。特に競争率の高いプログラムはさらに高いスコアを求め、セクションごとに最低点を設けている場合も多いです。上の表には出典つきの実例を挙げています。基準は変わることがあるので、必ず出願先で正確な数字を確認してください。

新しい1〜6のスケールで、自分のTOEFLスコアはどうなりますか?

2026年1月から、各セクションは0.5点刻みの1〜6バンドで採点され、総合スコアは4セクションの平均になります。ETSはこのバンドをCEFRに対応させており、バンド3は約B1、バンド4は約B2、バンド5は約C1、バンド6はC2にあたります。今後2年間はスコアレポートに旧スコア(0〜120点)も併記されるので、両方を比較できます。公式の対応表はETSのサイトに掲載されています。
